For Vicky (Mom)

When the day dawns dark and dreary
And your heart is heavy, and weary
It's another sorrow you don't want to face

You try and tell yourself it's all right
Though you cried again all last night
It's just another weight tied around your waist

And as your pain is drawing nearer
Something else in life seems clearer
Some hidden truth you never saw before

Though it's always hard to let go
Deep down inside you do know
Waiting for you are such amazing things

One foot in front of the other
So much more, than just a mother
Touch peoples hearts and soar with open wings

So many things are right before you
And each day brings you something new
Just one breath, one step, one day, at a time.
