American Dream

He left one night
Silhouette against the darkness
My mother cried
As we waved good-bye

 You fought for you country
Your life you freely gave...
 You came back a hero........
 But you're not the same.....
          You came back with memories
  That you don't wanna keep
      You're broken and tormented,
But you're still a hero to me.

Your company fought
Bravely against all odds
Wounded you carried on
Until the end

 You fought for you country
 Your life you freely gave....
 You came back a hero........
 But you're not the same.....
          You came back with memories
  That you don't wanna keep
      You're broken and tormented,
But you're still a hero to me

Wars will come and go
I wish I could take away your pain
But all I can do
Is make sure they never forget

 You fought for you country
 Your life you freely gave.....
 A decorated veteran.............
 But you're not the same........
         You came back with memories
 That you don't wanna keep
     You're broken and tormented,
But you're still a hero to me

                                                     You're still a hero...
                                                                              To me.
