JUICE- Juice it! Another Gramma Story
My Gramma had some really cool ideas. One of them I was really enthralled with for a while was juicing. Man we juiced everything. There is this infomercial with this old guy who swears up and down that juicing will help you live longer, make you feel better, make you look better, make you lose weight. Sounds great, doesn't it ? Sure it does, and all you have to do is buy his miracle juicer, and juice juice juice! Wooo! So we got on this big juice kick. The best was apple/carrot juice. Man I loved that stuff. And I was getting more vitamins and sure I had more energy. It was pretty cool. And easy too. Well...
Gramma ( I still don't think I've told her about this, so Gramma if you read this no offense !) Gramma started juicing everything. One day I was over at Grammas and she was juicing away, and she hands me this tall glass of the most scary looking, green juice. Of course I drank it, I didn't want to be rude and everything else she'd ever made was good.
Well, this wasn't. To this day I still don't know what she put in it, but let me tell you it hit my stomach and I knew I was in trouble. I made some excuse to my Gramma, and ran the whole way home. Upon entering the house my mom asked me if I was sick. She said my face was a pale, greenish color. No sooner had she finished asking me if I was sick I ran into the bathroom and buh-bye juice! I was sick for the rest of the night, couldn't eat anything. And for a week after anytime I saw something green my stomach turned. Consequently I gave up the juice thing.
I do want to point out that while I was drinking the regular normal juices, from fresh fruits and veggies I did have more energy and felt pretty good. You get a lot more vitamins from the juice if you make it and drink it then, as opposed to buying it in the store. So I think I might add a juicer to my collection of kitchen gadgets one of these here days. I know that when ( if ) I have kids I rather they drank fresh juice, it would probably be cheaper to buy a bunch of apples then the frozen concentrate. And plus you can mix things, mmmm apple/carrot!
