DIET PILLS- A big NO NO!

Yes, I tried them. Will I ever do it again, no. What happened ? I'll tell you. I was younger and a friend of mine had a bunch of the phen-fen containing pills. She was telling me how great they were and how much weight she lost. I totally ignored her shaking hands and odd way she could never sit still. So I was young and stupid and I tried them. I noticed a bad change right away.

I am one of those people who are blood pressure sensitive, which means that little things can dramatically affect my blood pressure. If I get angry or upset my blood pressure shoots through the roof. If I'm tired or upset or taking something then its low and I'm very sluggish. So I was taking this stuff and I could tell my blood pressure went way up, I always felt like my heart was going 90 miles an hour. I couldn't sit still, my hands would shake, and I was prone to dizziness and fainting. I knew what was causing it so I stopped taking them. My friend was like "Oh you get used to it after a week or so."

I didn't know how she could deal with it. It took a week or so but I started feeling normal again. My friend however had continued to take the pills, and in increased dosage. We both worked at a local swimming pool, she was a lifeguard and I taught swimming lessons to kids. We were hanging out one evening and she kept getting up and sitting down, she was covered in sweat, it was warm out but not that hot. She stood up one final time, she was actually going to get in the pool to cool off and she passed out.

At that time I'd already been through the CNA course so I checked her pulse, it was so weak I could barely get a count it. It happened that her mom and dad had come to visit her and had just walked through the door when it happened. They ended up taking her to the hospital. I felt bad,  but I had to tell them about the diet pills.

So she got to come back some hours later, it turned out she would have to see a Cardiologist, the phen-fen had caused her a severe heart problem, I don't remember what it was called. But shortly after that there was that huge phen- fen lawsuit and guess what the big thing about it was ? Heart problems. I don't know if she got any money out of the settlement or not, but at least she didn't end up dead like some of the people. And me, well once I quit taking it I never did it again, and I never will. I didn't take it long enough to do any damage to my pumper, thankfully enough.
